Dear Sir,I own a business which sets up Internet kiosks in shopping centres and individual shops. I have kiosks throughout South East Queensland, Australia.I have been using Open Office on my kiosks to enable my customers to work with MS Office files. I have had a query
from a member of the public regarding OpenOffice. The person was
trying to open a Microsoft Word 2007 document with a ".docx"
extension. OpenOffice wouldn't recognise the file.Is there any 'fix'
for this issue and is there any plan to upgrade OpenOffice to handle
MS Office 2007 files? This is obviously going to become a bigger
issue as more people upgrade to MS Office 2007.Thank you, in
anticipation of your response. Regards, Pete Pile Business

Hi Peter

The MS Office 2007 filters are due out in version 3, scheduled for September this year.

I have never used it, but the OOo spinoff OxygenOffice is said to have docx filters, and is available for Windows. Novell also have a variant, but I think it is Linux only.
