  I downloaded the free Power Point viewer, and it works! There is no way I 
would have known about this if you had not told me. As you no doubt realize, 
I'm not very computer literate.
   
  I have no idea why Mozilla/Firefox inserted itself into my computer, but 
wondered if it was somehow part of the Open Office download.Anyway, I deleted 
it.
   
  Now that I have PP Viewer, I would like do remove whatever it was from Open 
Office that I downloaded. Do you see any problems with this?

Was that PowerPoint file from Microsoft Office 2007, in the new format? 
If so, OpenOffice can't open them. You should be able to view it using 
the free PowerPoint viewer from Microsoft.
