When I opened OOo.base today, I got a notice that there were updates
available. When I clicked on the icon, it opened a tab in Firefox with
the OOo download page. I kept following that and it downloaded the
compressed tar file for 2.4 Linux-Intel. So far so good, I thought.
I uncompressed that file and looked for the update instructions. All I
found was one shell script. I found the location for the existing OOo
binary files (/opt/openoffice.org2.2/). So I logged in as root and tried:
./update /opt/openoffice.org2.2/
and got a long winded response about a session manager authentication
failure.
Since that didn't work, I tried searching the list archives for
information, but that was also fruitless.
I am running Slackware 11.0 with XFCE and have OOo 2.2.1 installed. How
do I update that to 2.4 without losing my current setup information?
Thank you,
Bob McConnell
