I'm a bit confused here -- you mention transferring from Word, but spreadsheets would normally have been in Excel and be handled by Calc. Did you have a spreadsheet imported into a Word document? But in any case, the normal scrollbars should work just fine. If what you're trying to do is freeze a column so it stays displayed as you scroll, a spreadsheet being edited in Calc should have that capability. For example, if you want to keep column A displayed as you scroll, select column B, then Window > Freeze. For more information, you can see the Help for "freeze" in Calc. If that's not the problem, please explain more about what you're trying to do, and in what part of OpenOffice.org.

By the way, let's keep this discussion on the list ([email protected]), more people can help out that way. Also, my personal e-mail can get cluttered up and I might not see your messages. We're all glad to help!

That worked beautifully, thanx. Would you happen to know how I can scroll sideways on a spreadsheet. When my documents transfered from Word to OpenOffice I seemed to have lost that capability and really miss it? Thank you for your help.

If you have typed the text in Writer, one way is to select the text, then use Format > Character, Position tab, Rotation / scaling. If that doesn't do what you want, maybe you could describe a little more of the context and what you are trying to accomplish.
