Hello Heather, I suppose you work on a Mac with Leopard (10.5.x). This time-out problem has been signaled here before. Maybe you coiuld check whether you have the latest update of Leopard and of the 'mysterious' X11 (do a software update in the apple menu). OpenOffice.org needs the X11 windowing utility to be 'visible' on a Mac. A 'native' version of OOo without X11 is almost ready. A way to avoid the tiime-out may be to start X11 first (you find it in Programs>Utilities), then starting OOo. To access OOo when you have been doing something else in the meantime, is to click on the X11 icon in the dock, not on the OOo icon. Read more about X11 and OOo on the Mac at these pages: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/ Good luck! -- Guy using dutch OOo Aqua Beta 3.0.0 (and older) on a iMac Intel DualCore Tiger and brazilian OOo SRC 680 m241 on an Intel MacBook Pro Leopard -- please reply only to [email protected] -- Dodoes can't afford to have headaches
