Then I realize that this is a style that I'm going to want to
include in all future documents, so I'd like to include it in my
default template.
Obviously (I hope), I don't want to turn the current document into
the new default template, because then it would include all this
text, not to mention some styles I may have created that are
specific to this document.
I just want to put this one specific style into the default template.
Is this possible?
Yes.
o Close all documents.
o Go to File | Templates > | Organize... .
o There are two windows: select Templates for one window and
Documents for the other.
o Double-click My Templates (or wherever) to show the name of your
default template.
o Click in the other (Documents) window, and click File... .
o Browse to your document file (containing the relevant style) and
open it: the file is now listed in the Documents window.
o Double-click the file name and then the Styles icon to reveal the
included styles.
o Locate the relevant style and Ctrl+drag it to copy it to the
template name in the other window.
o Click Close.
I trust this helps.
