Israel is very MS-centric as well. Even in the largest national computer chain, and even in the small private computer shops, nobody knows what Linux is. It's amazing. Some people have a vague idea that computers can be Apple without understanding what that means, but for the most part computer <-> MS Windows+MSO. Of course, almost all of them are pirated, and that is not considered unusual or unethical here. It is even encouraged in computer stores, and a faculty member offered to give me a pirated disk so that I could run a pirated Solidworks that is 'freely available'.
