In ageneralised *e-mail* "discussion" an email is sent To one person (or
more) and cc several others. Reply sends the reply *only* to the sender of
the message being replied to; Reply All sends the message to that person
plus all those To'd and cc'd on the message being replied to (except, of
course, the person actualy doing the Reply All).

It has never been clear to me why a *News* reader should have both options.


Thanks, Harold. That clears up some misunderstanding for me. I recall some discussion recently about the need to cc: the original sender if the message came through the moderator. Wouldn't the "Reply All" function send a reply to the original sender?
