One particularly not-complicated use would be to keep track of homework assignments. My mathnet assignments have 8-12 sections, and I never do them all at once. So in assignment A I may be on section 3, and assignment B I may be on section 5, etc. There are lots of other similar examples, but the basic idea is that a cell would hold a nonnegative integer, and clicking that cell would advance the interger one whole number.
