I have spent 90 hours building a spreadsheet to calculate many
en-route arrival times, times of ferries to catch and destination
arrival time on a minibus journey from N Scotland to Iona. It uses
many "IF", "TEXT", "TIME" and "LOOKUP" functions which all depend on
one cell where start time is entered.
In normal screen with menus atop, when pressing return after
entering the start time, all the formulae normally calculate their
correct answers. But in full screen some answers are often wrong
until I press F9. Under options I have set "Iterations" to 500 and
"min change" to 0.000001 but that does not help. Full screen
enables the bottom result line to be visible on the same screen as
the start time which is near the top.
I cannot reproduce this, so I don't know what the problem is. But
here are a few suggestions:
o You need to have Tools | Cell Contents > | AutoCalculate ticked in
order for recalculation to happen. But that must already be so if
things work properly when you are not in Full Screen mode.
o The settings that you mention at Tools | Options... |
OpenOffice.org Calc | Calculate | Iterative references are completely
irrelevant unless you have iterative formulae in your sheet. These
are where the result of a formula depends - indirectly - on
itself. Unless you have those, it would be better to switch Iterations off.
o You say that "Full screen enables the bottom result line to be
visible on the same screen as the start time which is near the
top." There are some workarounds to arrange that your result can be
seen whilst avoiding Full Screen mode:
...o Reduce the row heights (and perhaps the text size).
...o Hide some rows used for intermediate values.
...o Rearrange the sheet so that the result is nearer the top,
perhaps putting intermediate calculations (which you may not want to
see all the time) lower down or further to the right, if necessary
dropping off the display.
I trust this helps.
