I do not know, HOW many IDs from the "References:" Header are used by
Thunderbird, but RFC say, in the "References:" shoud not more then 8.

I use "mutt" and the settings "strict threating" which mean ABSULUTLY
by "References:" and "In-Reply-To:"

Maybe your MUA does not use all IDs from the "References:" header.
