If you want to use Microsoft products you must pay. OpenOffice.org is *not* a way to avoid paying licence fees to Microsoft for the use of its products. OpenOffice.org is a complete, free office suite that thousands of people use *instead of* Microsoft Office. It can read and write documents in Microsoft format (*not* the latest "2007" format) but it is primarily designed to implement the ISO standard Open Document Format (ODF) which many governments and other national and international bodies require. The software is free to download, free to use and free to give to others. It runs on Windows, Linux and Macs. A significant amount of documentation is free under Projects>Helping Users on the web site at <www.openoffice.org>. Support is also free via this mail list and via various other mechanisms you can find under Support on the web site. The OpenOffice.org software provides modules roughly equilavent to those in MS Office: MS OpenOffice Word Writer Excel Calc Powerpoint Impress Access Base - Math - create complex mathematical formulae using special symbols, fonts and layouts - Draw - create drawings, flow charts, etc. -- Harold Fuchs London, England Please reply *only* to [email protected]
