Thank you Harold you were a big help. Frank ....
-------------- Original message -------------- From: "Harold Fuchs" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 2008/6/11 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Hi, Recently I downloaded the 'Open Office' software then I installed the suite, When I tried to kick the program off I received the error message - 'Wrong OS or OS Version for Application'. I quickly uninstalled the software. Hopefully you can help and if you can I will download again and give it a try with your suite. Also I was rather confused about how to start the programs once I did the download and install. The HELP text was rather thin on starting up the EXCEL, WORD and PPS programs. Thank You - Frank Driscoll This is what happens if you try to unpack the downloaded file and then run the wrong component within the resulting set of programs. I suspect this is what you have done; if not, please explain in more detail exactly what you did do. What you should do is just run the file you downloaded. Please see the installation instructions at http://download.openoffice.org/common/instructions.html Once the software is properly installed and assuming your are using Windows, you'll find an entry for each component in your Start>All Programs>OpenOffice menu. You can also download/read the Getting Started guides at http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/index.html The components are: Writer - word processor Calc - spreadsheet Impress - presentation maker Base - database manager Draw - for creating drawings Math - for creating complex mathematical formulae using specialised characters, fonts and layouts. -- Harold Fuchs London, England Please reply *only* to [email protected]
