To be able to get at the options for Writer, make sure you have a document (may be blank) open in Writer. After you open the options dialog, expand the OpenOffice.org Writer line. Below it there should be an "AutoCaption" line; click on that. Check the boxes for the items that should be AutoCaptioned when inserted.
