I broke Open Office really badly Open Office will not SAVE or PRINT. When I try to open I get this box:
ASCII Filter Options <chalcedony> Properties <chalcedony> Character set Unicode (UTF-8) <chalcedony> Default fonts Times New Roman <chalcedony> Language English (USA) I clicked yes. It opens. .. but won't ever finish finding the file to save it. And it won't print! Error: Not connected? Printer 'HP_L770' may not be connected. (It can print plain text, from mutt mail though.) I had been trying to fix this error, Since my upgrade to Hardy Heron Ubuntu 8.4. I have been getting an error each time I opened an Open Office writer Document. (I had not opened other types.) Error: loading BASIC of document file:///usr/lib/openoffice/share/basic/WebWizards/script.xlb/: General Error General input/output error [OK] People asked me if I had two processors, but this turned out to be two copies of Open Office: ls -lh ~/.o* /home/llhull/.openoffice: total 4.0K drwxr-xr-x 5 llhull llhull 4.0K 2005-12-29 11:48 1.1.2 /home/llhull/.openoffice.org2: total 4.0K drwxr-xr-x 17 llhull llhull 4.0K 2008-05-21 13:47 user I tried using: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/bug/+205322 I upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy, to Hardy. I have been using OO for several years, from debian to Feisty. Whatever I did must have removed the 1st one, 1.1.2. I now have: ls -lh ~/.o* /home/llhull/.openoffice.org2: total 4.0K drwxr-xr-x 17 llhull llhull 4.0K 2008-06-24 09:38 user It won't save or print. Is removing and reloading OO the answer? What command(s) would you recommend? Because I got Open Office LONG ago, I think there are several errors in my copy. Would removing ALL of Open Office allow me to fix some of these things that have been a problem? What command(s) do I need to use to COMPLETELY remove and replace with a version of OO that has normal English fonts in the drop down? Mine has things like aakar, Aksharyogini, AlArabiya, Al Battar, AlHor, AlManzomah, AlMateen, AlMohanad, AlMothnna, AlYarmook, Andale Mono, etc. right down to UnBatang, UnDotum, Verdanee, and Waree. It only has a FEW English fonts, like Times New Roman and Bitstream Charter. I've been trying to make-do for years.
