OK, I now _think_ I understand what you are asking for. I _think_ it is
something along the lines of this pdf document that has a submit button
that emails the completed pdf to you:

http://www.west.net/~ted/auc/auEducForm.pdf
[source: http://www.acrobatusers.com/blogs/tedpadova/2007/09/ - Figure 1
form]

Note in that form you cannot save the completed data either; you need to
print it to a standard printer, or print it to a virtual pdf printer
(like pdfcreator or a linux cupsys pdfprinter). I always print to a
virtual pdf printer when doing these types of forms (tax forms in
particular) so that I can later go back and reprint/review. Also if
printed to a VPDFP, you can easily review what you submitted and then
modify another new form. Other than that, I use pdfedit or in windows
Acrobat.

I am not at all familiar with working with forms, but a Google search on
http://www.google.com/search?q=openoffice+%2Bform+%2Bmailto+button
brought up these links that might be of use:

http://www.devx.com/opensource/Article/38178/1954
[see: Table 1. XForms Submission Options]
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2892

Perhaps someone with form experience will provide an easier example of
of how to insert a 'mailto' button in OOo from the form design/control
buttons.

Thanks for the information you've found. Note that the submit button on the auEducForm doesn't work either in the Acrobat Reader. This button would be great, but I would already be satisfied with the simple tools as given in the Acrobat Reader: File>Save/Save as../Email. These menu items don't allow to save or send the requested data (which is filled in by the user) when the form is not created with the Adobe Acrobat program, you can only transmit an empty form again.

Regards

Pieter
