I'd say it was a memory issue, except that you can open it from XP on
the same physical machine.
One thing - was the initial install done on the XP side, or the 98
side? And are you trying the 98 version on the 98 side? It's a
different subversion, IIRC.

I am unable to open OpenOffice.org1 in Windows98. The opening splash
appears, disappears, and that's it. Uninstall and reinstall has been
tried with the same result. No file problem or lack of storage space
is evident. The application is used and functions happily in a
separate XP partition on the same computer.
Can I expect this problem with later versions of OpenOffice?
