I have been using NeoOffice for quite a while, and I must say that is

But how does it cooperate with OpenOffice as apparently both are coming from

The OpenOffice Writer seems to be slightly more complex. I would prefer to
furthermore work with NeoOffice. Are there no conflicts ?

NeoOffice is a totally separate project and we have nothing to do with it. In fact, they use our source code and offer none in return. As to OpenOffice being more complex, i wonder how much of that is due to NO using Aqua hotkeys and file requesters that you are used to while OO uses X11 hotkeys and file requesters that you may not be familiar with. Otherwise, their logic is the same as ours except being several versions behind. In answer to your question, you may continue to use both as needed. The preferences are stored in separate directories, so they won't overwrite each other. The files you work on should suffer no harm, as both OO and NO use the same logic for loading and saving.
