I've run into a problem with OO2.4.1 at work. I've also tried the
current 3.0 dev build m22, same results.
All of our office files are stored as Excel 2000/03 spreadsheets (.xls).
Many of them have external links to other spreadsheets. Many of the
paths and filenames have spaces in them.
Use of OO breaks the links by inserting a "%2520" in files opened in
OO, saved as .xls, opened in Excel, saved, and then reopened by OO.
1. Create file in Excel with links to another file with spaces in the
link name, save it.
2. Open file in OO, resave it back as .xls
3. Open file in Excel, resave it.
4. Open file again in OO, links with spaced in the path/filename are now
translated to the "%2520" string.
This breaks the cell updating for both OO and Excel from this point forward.
It appears that after the first save by OO, Excel is accepting the %20
to represent the space and preserving the link, but is resaving the link
in a format which OO interprets the "%" character as needing to be
escaped, thus producing the "%25" and leaving the following "20" as part
of the path string. At least, this is what I think is happening.
Am I missing something? I've tried searching the bug reports and the
forum but didn't seem to find anything which seemed to fit.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a setting I've missed, or
another work-around?
Marc
