I have several email accounts with gmail and with a major webhost
(dreamhost). I send email thru Thunderbird using either SSL on port
465 (my webhost) or TLS on port 587 (gmail). I can't get my smpt
settings with these services to work with the mail merge program on OO
(Neo Office, on a Mac).
I can't send email over port 25 as I don't have login accounts on my
local ISPs (using my housemate's sbcglobal DSL, or using Verizon cell
service) and both services block port 25 connections to mail servers off
their network to block spammers.
I can't find any useful documentation about what smtp options actually
*work* on OO. (I found a lot of posts about a bug when "testing" the
settings when using gmail, but the settings that work on TB don't work
on OO when I try to use them, not just when I try to test them.) I
would love to hear from anyone who has mail merge working to send email
on port 465 or 587 and what settings they use to achieve this.
