Works fine here. However be aware that the basic OOo install on Ubuntu
Hardy does not include the full OOo package (including required Java
related packages), and that could be causing the problem. See:

sudo apt-get install openoffice.org

and that should bring in the remaining packages. Be sure to set your
java in Tools|Options|OOo...|Java
Hopefully that will correct the problem. If it does not, then you might
