This may already be obvious, but you should go ahead and delete the
Open Office Installation folderon the desktop.  You do not need any of
those files anymore.  As previously stated, you can run everything
from the Start menu.  Alternatively you can right click on a document
(assuming it doesn't show the openoffice logo) and select "open with".
 This menu will allow you to choose to open with openoffice.  It
doesn't matter which icon you select to open with.  My understanding
is in most cases the correct program will be chosen automatically.
Just select an Icon with the Openoffice logo.
