I have a file I created in OpenOffice (OS OpenSuse 10-3). Suddenly all the characters (my native language is portuguese) with diacritics, the typographic quotes turned either into chinese or to blank boxes. The OxygenOffice I have in my Windows didn't solve the problem; saving the file as text and opening it with emacs or other editor, neither... The problem happened after an update of the kernel (is it possible there is something here?).
