OpenOffice is a full office suite, comparable to Microsoft Office. It includes a word processor, called "Writer" and spreadsheet "Calc", a drawing program and other functions. There is a lot of information at this site: http://documentation.openoffice.org You might also find some books on OpenOffice at your local library, though some of them may be dated. To determine the version, click on Help > About OpenOffice.org.
