Dear James,
Many thanks for your swift reply; but, whatever it is, I am having
trouble with the site on my computer which is java-disabled. When I
try to login, just next to facebook's password and email panels, a
message flashes up for some seconds informing me that this computer
is not java-enabled and to get java or upgrade to better browser. I
tried unsuccessfully to download java.I am not very technical and I
do not know what OpenOffice is; but I get problems when I try to
enter facebook such as "This page could not be displayed" or, if it
opens, I get missing info, the clicks produce no response,sometimes;
my friends lists do not appear and, for example, instead of getting a
full "send message" area, I just get a thin line, Clicking on this
line works sometimes; but not when I try to send nessages to friends
and, therefore, I can neither contact nor send replies. Perhaps you
can offer some kind advice.
Maby thanks,
Sincerely,
Marcus.
Hello Marcus
Well - the website has been going through some changes of late,
particularly on the download page and specifically with changes to
test for the presence of java on the users PC.
The reason for this is because you can download a copy of
OpenOffice.org that includes the Java Runtime Environment or download
a copy of that does not include it. The idea is to not force people to
have to download the larger file, with the JRE, if they do not need it.
The message you are receiving, IMO, is trying to tell you that you
should download the copy of OpenOffice.org that does include the Java
files.

Drew
ps - the java test code on the download page is not considered
finished as of this time by the way.
As he mentioned in another note, he's running Windows 95 and the version
of OpenOffice that supports W95 is ancient and predates the java
included versions. Also, I don't think he was looking for OpenOffice.
