I haven't an install on vista, but when you say "the same file" do you
mean _exactly_ the same file or another copy. In other words could the
copy on your vista machine be corrupted? I won't go into any conspiracy
theories there.
I don't think there is a file compare function for spreadsheets as there
is for writer. You could try renaming to *.zip and unzipping to have a
look at the contents, as the file is in fact a zip archive of .xml files
(speaking in my ignorance). May give you an idea where the error is anyway.
Otherwise I suspect that no one does have a clue.
