Thanks From your description it appears that you have installed the program and are trying to rerun the installer program from the extracted/unzipped installation folder on your desktop. The OOo (OpenOffice.org) installer doesn't create desktop icons. Look under your "Start -> Programs/All Programs -> OpenOffice.org 2.4" menu option.
