I have recently come across some "templates" for openoffice that seem to be doing things the wrong way. They are odf files and not proper openoffice templates is the first problem. The second problem us that in order to prevent the text spilling over onto some "pretty" borders on the background the designer has used tables.

My questions are:

Would any of you use tables to constrain text into a confined area on the page? Why would you not use paragraph formats in order to constrain the text so as to keep within the borders? These "templates" use a manual TOC as the chapter headings are all text within tables rather than using the heading1 format. Is there any advantage to using this on an eBook?

Thanks for your replies

Rob
