I have taken to using SUMPRODUCT for my bookkeeping reports. Is there any need to sort any of the array elements?
No. How can there be? The nature of the function you are needing is symmetrical in the arrays cells. In mathematical terms, it is commutative. For two-member arrays, we can represent the result as a*b + c*d. If the arrays were ordered differently, the calculation would be c*d + a*b instead. But that's the same value.
It *is* necessary to keep the two arrays in appropriate orders, of course - so that the values correspond as between the arrays. Because a*d + c*b is different. So you cannot sort one array separately from the other.
I trust this helps. Brian Barker --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
