Following the instructions, I successfully downloaded Open Office, and copied it into the Applications folder, and docked it in the toolbar, and installed X11 from the 10.4 upgrade disk, and changed the X11 settings in the Xterm window. Then I started OpenOffice and it asked me if I wanted to use the Apple fonts - I said yes - but then it went no further. No error messages, no windows, just nothing. If I try to open OpenOffice from the icon in the command bar (right click, Open), the same thing happens - nothing, except that the icon bounces a few times, OpenOffice appears in the top menu bar, but the options there only relate to the OpenOffice script. If I try to open a Word document by choosing OpenOffice.org from the right-click menu, nothing happens - no windows open, no error messages, just nothing. I'm more familiar with PCs than Macs - I'm doing this for a friend - so I've no idea where to go from here.
