this not something easy to explain - there were couple of similar discussions; if you look on the list archive, you can find some similar threads.

you should made the choice based on your requirements regarding the proxy configuration. If you look for more flexibility in configuration (like scripting feature and pseudo-variables), you should give a try to openser.
