bingo. you are right. you have to configure openserctl to use the proper
username/password.
take a look at /etc/openser/openserctlrc

This has nothing todo with your openser.cfg. openserctl needs to know
the mysql password for the openser mysql user.
IIRC it must be configured somewhere in /etc/openser
