In a perfect world, you'd have a network or serial console (http://wiki.openvz.org/Remote_console_setup). But in reality, it would be good if you at least show us the IP (RIP for x86_64) value - it is usually printed one of the last. And, since you compiled the kernel yourself, get prepared to disassemble your vmlinux/modules (with objdump utility).
