So, If I understand well, there's never been an (official ?) centos-5 template for openvz. If I want one, I need to use the unofficial build method explained here: http://www.neonhost.com/openvz/ or use the official method : http://wiki.openvz.org/Centos_Upgrade_4.x_to_5.0
Am I correct ? I don't want to start in the wrong direction .

anyway, I'am new to openvz (I'am from linux-vservers ...) and I'am surprised that people out there still run centos-4 !
isn't it any simple way to get a centos-5 VPS ?

thanks .

No, that is incorrect. It is no longer maintained.

Which doesn't mean "not available yet" it means "not available ever".

Please read the forums, the mail list archives and wiki.

Thanks!

what do you mean ?
from what I see, vztmpl for centos-5 is not "yet" available instead of
"no longer maintained" !
there is one for centos-4, but can't find one for centos-5 .

On a fedora-11 (32 bits) host openVZ system I want to run a centos5.4
VPS,

but apparently it is not available by default :-(

# yum search vztmpl
vztmpl-centos-4.i386
vztmpl-fedora-7.i386 ...etc .. but no centos-5 !

did I miss something in the openvz.repo !?

alternatively, I tried to use precreated template as mention here:

http://wiki.openvz.org/OS_template_cache_preparation#Alternative:_use_precre
ated_template_cache

I downloaded 2 tar.gz of centos5
# ls /vz/template/cache/
centos-5-i386-default-5.4-20100412.tar.gz centos-5-x86.tar.gz

I can create a VPS based on those precreated template, but it seems to
miss the template metadata or something
if I want to update my freshly installed VPS I get:
# vzyum 21230 update
ERROR: No such OS template: update

vzpkgls doesn't return anything :-(
# vzpkgls

Did I miss something ?

Regards .
