Yes. My mini-OS boots first on the system and my application currently runs on the mini-OS.
Then you should be able to port it over. Take a "tar" of the installed system, use it as a OpenVZ template by specifying it when you "vzctl create" a new VE, and well... start removing what's unnecessary and fixing what's weird.
