STOP! Are you talking about the smbfs kernel module which has been deprecated for ages or the cifs module which you are suppose to be using? If you are using smbfs then stop doing so, now! It is no longer supported (for years) and should no longer be used, period. If you are talking about the cifs module, then please use its proper name. For reference... I was one of the past maintainers of the smbfs module and the supporting mount programs for the samba team. Both smbfs and those supporting applications are no longer supported at all. The mount types would be... -t smbfs -- BAD -t cifs -- Correct What you are having problems with may still be true but please be specific, precise, and accurate.
