Hi OpenVZ-Community, Hi Christian, I noticed the same "problem" with the 2.6.32 kernels. Interestingly it only seems to happen on my rpm-based Kernels from the OpenVZ-Repo. The kernels I patched and compiled myself don't seem to behave that way. Also, not all processes that open ports seem to be visible via netstat on the hw-node. Here the difference in behaviour between munin and apache2:
[root@srv05 ~]# vzctl exec 512 "netstat -tulpen | grep 4949" tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:4949 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 23963289 14168/munin-node [root@srv05 ~]# vzctl exec 510 "netstat -tulpen | grep 4949" tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:4949 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 154512328 31520/munin-node [root@srv05 ~]# netstat -tulpen|grep 4949 tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:4949 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 56159312 652391/munin-node [root@srv05 ~]# netstat -tulpen|grep :80 tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 547379989 191426/apache2 tcp 0 0 :::80 :::* LISTEN 0 28979 10656/httpd I only use venet-based networking on all my nodes.
