Hello

I am afraid that you are right, openVZ9 seems to be a dead end .

thanks a for the link https://www.virtuozzo.com/hybrid-server-docs/9.0/release-notes-9.0/#known-issues-and-limitations

indeed no mention of openVZ9 (community/free  edition of Virtuozzo Hybrid Server 9; VHS 9)

lots of things seems to change (lot's of usual tools replaced by a "Control Pannel") and moreover,  no more system Containers  (CT) , which was one of the most significant  advantage of openVZ over other systems .

As a VHS 7 subscriber , I did receive some information from support and staff regarding openVZ9, but still no clear statement about continuation of it . some told me that system CT will be discontinued, others no ... not clear, I think there's a missinterpretation from system CT and K8S containers ... I'll reply pointing them to  that thread if they dare reply here ?

but for now , indeed I am also looking at Proxmox LXC .

regards .

jehan.

Hello!

So, after latest July message, seems the project is finally dead.

@Jehan, while I agree there is still the phrasing "Openvz is the base for Virtuozzo" in the VZ7 doc: https://docs.virtuozzo.com/virtuozzo_hybrid_server_7_users_guide/learning-basics/vhs-vs-openvz.html

In fact there is now a VZ9 doc (not easy to find!) not saying anything about openvz, and know issues are crystal clear that openvz is not included :'(

No migration from VZ7, no support, no more cli, no more container at all 😅

And there is also a EOL Policy stating that Virtuozzo Hybrid Server 7 is now end of life: https://docs.virtuozzo.com/virtuozzo_product_lifecycle_policy/index.html

Parallel is not in charge anymore, and Odin seems to have been bought by Cloudblue (??)

Like tranxene said, it was a pleasure to use openvz 6 and 7 freely and working with these containers (far better than docker and even LXC!) but it's time to move on :'(

Proxmox could be a good alternative for the LXC part.

Good luck for your migration guys!

Regards,
