please open a bug on VDSM. This is something we need to deal with during

What do you mean by rebasing? On which backing image did you rebase it?

I'm not too familiar with openstack, but I'd suggest doing a 'qemu-img convert' 
on the disk in openstack to squash the backing change into new (and complete) 
image, assign this new disk to your VM and import it to oVirt.
