Is it possible that you have big snapshots in the chain?
Just as an example  if you have a VM with 150GB used space in the guest,
you take a snapshot and deleted 100GB within the guest it will appear as
the used space within the guest is 50GB but the actual size of the snapshot
chain will be more like 250GB
