want to know use of methods

Hello
I am in  a dilma that what is the purpose of below mention method
PDFTextStripper stripper = new PDFTextStripper(encoding);
stripper.*setForceParsing*( force );
stripper.*setShouldSeparateByBeads*( separateBeads );
and when i put force or separateBeads is true and when false
