For example, would this be a stand-alone Java application, or is it part of something bigger? Are you working with huge documents such that performance optimization is a critical component? Are you just looking for a batch of files, e.g., output001.jpg, output002.jpg, ..., output999.jpg? One per page? Blank page removal? Are you looking for any text recognition at all? Any rights restrictions on the PDF files? What sorts of images are embedded in the PDFs, or are they strictly text-only?
