2019-08-11 11:07:07 UTC - krishna: Hi ! I dont know if it is right place to ask this but does microsoft sql server source connector avaliable for pulsar ? cause i could not find it. ---- 2019-08-11 11:12:47 UTC - Ali Ahmed: there is jdbc source and debezium connector it can be used to get data from sql server ---- 2019-08-11 12:15:11 UTC - Kim Christian Gaarder: How can I delete a schema completely from Pulsar using java-admin-client so that a different schema can be used for the same topic?
I have now used the Schemas.deleteSchema(topic), Topics.deleteTopic(topic), Namespaces.deleteNamespace(namespace), Tenants.deleteTenant(tenant), then recreated tenant and namespace. But still when I attempt to connect with another schema than was used the very first time, I get the error that the schema is incompatible. This means that there is schema information stored somewhere else that I have not been able to delete. ---- 2019-08-11 12:50:27 UTC - Sijie Guo: @Kim Christian Gaarder there is a bug in 2.4.0 and previous versions, which includes deleted schema for BC check. the fix will be in 2.4.1 ---- 2019-08-11 12:50:54 UTC - Sijie Guo: If you are in testing phase, you can consider building one package from master. ---- 2019-08-11 14:32:58 UTC - Kim Christian Gaarder: @Sijie Guo Oh, great, thank you! ---- 2019-08-11 16:44:08 UTC - krishna: i tried both of them i could not make them work. all demos where avaliable for kafka not pulsar. thanks ! in case you have some resources please share ---- 2019-08-11 20:52:07 UTC - David Kjerrumgaard: @Amit Kaushal We don't have a Spring client library, just the plain Java client library for now. Is there some specific functionality that you are looking for in Spring client library that isn't available in the plain Java one? ---- 2019-08-12 02:26:45 UTC - Zhiyong Li: Hi! When will a subscription become inactive? does it mean no consumer connected and no unacknowledged messages? thanks. ---- 2019-08-12 03:02:37 UTC - msk: We have installed pulsar on red-hat linux server. We do not have docker on that server. Is there a way we can use pulsar dashboard outside docker ? Please advice. ---- 2019-08-12 03:03:13 UTC - Logan Lu: @Logan Lu has joined the channel ---- 2019-08-12 06:12:40 UTC - Poule: when I create a pulsar function I get `Function classname cannot be null` ---- 2019-08-12 06:13:16 UTC - Poule: however in the doc, a native python function only have a `process()` function without begin in a class ---- 2019-08-12 06:13:26 UTC - Poule: what am I missing? ---- 2019-08-12 06:31:04 UTC - Poule: I use the yaml ---- 2019-08-12 06:41:41 UTC - Poule: it works ok when specifying command line arg `--classname` ---- 2019-08-12 06:41:48 UTC - Poule: yaml problem? ---- 2019-08-12 07:11:57 UTC - Sijie Guo: @Poule can you show more details about the yaml config? ---- 2019-08-12 07:42:56 UTC - Joe: @Joe has joined the channel ---- 2019-08-12 08:03:27 UTC - Zhenhao Li: hi team, I wonder what's Palsar offsets' data type. if I never delete data, the offset will grow forever, in theory ---- 2019-08-12 08:10:16 UTC - Kim Christian Gaarder: Read the architecture-overview. Pulsar store messages in BookKeeper, which organizes topics into multiple ledgers. So it’s more than a simple offset per message. <https://pulsar.apache.org/docs/en/concepts-architecture-overview/> ---- 2019-08-12 08:18:57 UTC - Sijie Guo: @Zhenhao Li : add more to what @Kim Christian Gaarder explained. pulsar’s data retention is subscription based. that means if you created a subscription and without deleting it and you never use the subscription again, the data of that topic will grow until it hits the backlog quota. ---- 2019-08-12 08:31:55 UTC - Richard Sherman: If you can't install docker then you need python installed and an RDBMS, MySql and Postgress are supported. A few more details in this thread <https://apache-pulsar.slack.com/archives/C5Z4T36F7/p1564648754266700?thread_ts=1564648362.266200&cid=C5Z4T36F7> ---- 2019-08-12 08:33:07 UTC - Richard Sherman: I wouldn't recommend using sqlLite in a production environment as I hit locking issues when collections were running and I was doing some admin through the dashboard. ----
