I need this in a message consuming application, but I don't trust my clients... :) so I would like to get this information from the one I trust - the broker.

If it's the later, you may not want to rely on internal Qpid connection details at the application level. In my own usage, I use the Reply To and Correlation ID to identify the publisher. Would these be sufficient for you?

There may be a better solution, but you could always set application headers on the publisher specifying the the connection info, process ID, or whatever
you need to identify the publisher.
