I think this is PROTON-974. Where the Proton library does not recognise the SASL mechanism frame coming from the qpidd broker if it has only one mechanism in it. This is fixed on trunk and on the 0.10 branch, but it just missed the 0.10 release and we have not made a point release for 0.10 yet. Firstly try using dispatch with either trunk or tip of 0.10 version of proton to see if that helps. If it does then "suggest" to Robbie that he does a point release of 0.10 to get you the fix in a release. Another work around would be to allow the broker to offer another mech (make sure it's one that won't get chosen by dispatch).
