There isnt really enough information here allowing to suggest something. Perhaps try turning up some of the client logging (http://qpid.apache.org/releases/qpid-jms-0.32.0/docs/index.html#logging) to see if you can get a better idea whats happening.
That said, I dont really follow your described usage either. A MessageConsumer can only have a single MessageListener, not 4, and you specifically noted only having a single MessageConsumer. I'd mention that the MessageProducer being on the same Session would be an illegal threading usage if it is used outwith a MessageListener onMessage, since setting a listener on a consumer dedicates the singled-threaded Session to the listener thread once started.
