Thank you for your response. Didn’t use your suggestion though and still got it 
working;

Unfortunately I don’t have a real understanding what has fixed it ☹
All I know is I have two python versions installed now:
- 3.10 32-bit which is still showing me the error when installing 
python-qpid-proton
- 3.9 64-bit where installing python-qpid-proton works fine...

Installing the 64 bit version of Pyhon I did after investigating an issue I was 
having with CMAKE; somebody on internet wrote it had to do with 32/64 bit 
difference between CMake and Python...

Anyway, it works

it's not a the solution but a workaround, in order to bypass this it;s enough 
to set a shorter env variable for path :
set user variable TEMP  to c:\tmp
you need first to create the folder.
