I've just checked out the smx4.0-runtime & build from scratch, it has the same minor issue as Piotr pointed out, simply fix the "lib\servicemix.jar" to "bin\servicemix.jar". (I also checked in linux version, servicemix.jarlocated in the lib folder). It is out-of-date for windows-bin.xml.
After that, I can start them successfully without any error.
