Unfortunately, the dependencyManagement declaration is not even enough. Maven resolves the older dependency anyway and adds its repository entries to its internal list even if it is excluded or specifically set in dependencyManagement. These fixes keep it from being used for compilation, etc. but do not remove its repository declaration from the internal list. This message has the only known fix that I could make work. Add it to the topmost pom.xml in your project heirarchy and it should hide the bad repo. Of course you will still have to clean your maven repo before you try it as well.
