Hi Janne,
Clearly, if you start from scratch, the right choice is ServiceMix
4.2.0. For your information, the 4.3.0 release is in stage for now, it
should be available by the end of this week.
Now, from a technical point of view:
- ServiceMix 3 is based on JBI and Spring mainly
- ServiceMix 4 is based on OSGi (using Karaf container) and the JBI is
supported by ServiceMix 4 NMR mainly for backward compatibility
- ServiceMix 3 and ServiceMix 4 share several modules especially the
ServiceMix Components which provide JBI SE/BC and OSGi bundle.
We know that the website should be updated and cleaned, we're working on it.
Anyway, I'm strongly advice you to use ServiceMix 4.2.0 and switch to
4.3.0 as soon as it's available :)
Regards
JB

What is the relationship between ServiceMix 3 and 4?
Initially going to the first available download page at
http://servicemix.apache.org/download.html states
"The latest release is the ServiceMix 3.3.2 Release.
We strongly encourage all users to use this Release."
So I ended up installing that one... After a while I realized this is
not the latest version and going to
http://servicemix.apache.org/SMX4/download.html
"The latest release is the ServiceMix 4.2.0 release.
We strongly encourage all users to use this Release."
I could not find entries in FAQ or elsewhere that would guide on which
version to use. Is there a page somewhere that discusses this?
